Simple y concreto el post de Ryan Hellyer sobre las virtudes de bbPress al respecto del SEO, que describo a continuación:

1. Es el único software de foros, aparte de Vanilla, que ofrece permalinks amigables como opción propia. SMF necesita de un mod gratuito y para vBulletin necesitas un mod de pago.
2. Es el único software de foros que ofrece pingbacks/trackbacks por defecto. Para SMF no hay mods disponibles y para vBulletin hay un mod de pago.
3. rel="nofollow" en los pingbacks/trackbacks
4. El theme por defecto, Kakumei, ofrece un código HTML semántico con un nivel muy alto de SEO por defecto, con un uso muy correcto de las cabeceras.

Por supuesto, hay sistemas de foros más potentes, con miles de mods para casi cualquier cosa, pero bbPress es realmente práctico, fácil de usar, instalar, potente y además el más amigable para el SEO.
